VISITA IGLESIA 2019

“Saan tayo pupunta ngayong holy week? Saan ang ating Visita Iglesia?” It’s always been a question to us every time Holy week is coming. For five years consecutive, we spent a day to have our Station of the Cross or Visita Iglesia on different churches. We’ve been to Caleruega, Marian Orchard and different churches on Batangas province. This became our tradition every year. It wasn’t just a family trip but a real tradition.

This year 2019, we en route to a place a bit far from home. We went to the churches of Tagaytay City. Honestly, it wasn’t planned perfectly. I just did the research a day before. We went to Tierra de Maria, Pink Sisters and Angel’s Hills.

Leaving Batangas City at around 6:00 o’clock in the morning is quite hard for me but I did it for the sake of Visita Iglesia. We reached Tagaytay City around 8:00 am. It was a perfect decision to use Waze application for the shortcuts and updates on the traffic.

Our supposed to be first stop is Our Lady of Manaoag at Tierra de Maria located at Tagaytay- Calamba Road but the space is too narrow and there are lots of people so we decided to just lit a candle and pray.

Tierra de Maria is known for the 50 foot statue of the Virgin Mary. A small chapel is located inside the giant statue of the Virgin Mary. Unluckily, we didn’t see the chapel since there were lots of devotees dying to look inside and also to pray.

Visitors also could go upstairs where one can see the view of the Taal Volcano but it wasn’t open that day. Sad to say, we didn’t saw the view. Anyway, there are still another time for that. We can always go back and visit the pilgrimage.

Few minutes away from Tierra de Maria, we went to Angels Hills for the continuation of the Visita Iglesia. I didn’t expect that Angels Hills is a beautiful and solemn place. It was a perfect place for retreats and recollection.

We decided to start the Station of the Cross on the said place. The sun shines so bright; it was so hot yet a kind of different from Batangas City since Tagaytay is much cooler than the former. I love the ambience though it’s a bit hot also.

Angels Hills and Retreat and Formation Center offers Retreats, Recollections, Value Formation Seminars, Pastoral Planning, Workshops, Team Building and other Spiritual Activities. It is located at Arnoldus Road, Maitim II East, Tagaytay City, Philippines. (For your inquiries, questions or reservation, you may visit their official website. I linked it here below. )

Minutes after the first half of the Station of the Cross, we walked through the Pink Sisters Convent and Adoration Chapel. It is located 5 minutes away from Angel’s Hills. This church is one of the famous churches in Tagaytay City because of its solemnity and quiet place. The second half of the Station of the Cross was finished here.

Afterwards, we went straight to Skyranch Tagaytay to eat lunch. But wait, there’s a trivia. We just went to Skyranch to parked our car and ate the food we brought. Too cute, right? We didn’t spend too much money on food rather we bring  cooked food. And we’re actually fasting so the foods are mostly vegetables and fish.

We spent sometime to enjoy the place. I personally enjoyed riding on different rides and laughing out loud with my relatives. I don’t want to share so much details rather I want to share the pictures we took.
